The Ultimate Hippie Vacation Finally begins!

We started the day (10/11/05) at Wheels RV in Tonitown, AR. Those people were nice! There were media folks there too. There were folks from TV and Radio. There were even a few fans! Mr. Haynes was in his element talking to the press and waiting for Cody to arrive in the bus. Like a true celebrity, Cody arrived late. When he and Sam came riding up, it was a truly exciting moment. Sam had such a large smile on his face. Now I understand that he was thinking about the moment when we would be driving off!
Safety?
Cody is a truly lovely person but... He drives like a maniac. He had 3 “incidents” within the first 10 minutes of the trip. At one point he wanted to adjust the music on the DVD player (a short walk from the drivers seat) so he gets up and says “Here, take the wheel” and walks off! The bus is careening down the highway and he walks off! I wasn’t even by the wheel! Yipes! Mr. Haynes is peacefully napping and I am seeing my life flash before my eyes! What am I doing here?
Later when I finally decide I need to relax and trust him, I look up and he is driving the bus with his feet!!!
B.K. - “Have you gotten any driving tickets driving with your feet?”
Cody - “No, all my driving tickets are for speeding and reckless endangerment - and stuff like that.” Hum.... There are no seat belts on the bus...
The Bus
My biggest fear about the trip was that Mr. Haynes would board the bus and then walk off again - never to return. I mean it is that dirty! There is a kind of funk in the air too...
I thought that Mr. Haynes would present Cody with the ”gift” of a cleaning crew and refuse to go anywhere until it was at least a little clean. Boy was I wrong! By the early afternoon, Mr. Haynes is carelessly walking through litter (which he threw down) and looking as comfortable as a college student in his dorm room. I mean what is it with this bus....

Mr. Haynes and Cody

It is a little scary how well they get along already. I thought Mr. Haynes was going to have a positive effect on Cody. So far I see more of a change in Mr. Haynes! Cody actually got him to eat trash today!! What is it with these guys?
Cody and His Cell Phone
Cody could be the poster child of why you should not talk on the cell phone and drive at the same time. Every time he gets a call, something happens! The first time he spoke on the cell, we ended up in Eureka Springs, AR when he had been headed for the Mark Twain National Forrest in Missouri. He got a call from the Jimmy Kimmel show and he was so excited he forgot where he was going. This was fine with me. I have been wanting to visit Eureka Springs ever since I heard about it.
It was in Eureka Springs that Cody pulled his first stunt. He purposely fell down a whole flight of stairs and scared the locals to pieces. I missed it as I was in one of the neat shops spending money.
We finally did get to the Roaring River Park in Missouri. It was my first time in Missouri. It is a beautiful state. It was in this park that Mr. Haynes spent his first night on the bus with Cody. He did not like it much.....
