Can You Make Money on the Internet without a Product?

I have had this web-site for many years. I used to sell Lampshades and Tee-shirts on this site. I still have a small Lampshade business on www.shenandoahshops.com but I would rather concentrate on my writing during the time I am not with clients.

Can I afford to do that? Until recently I did not think I could. That is why my sites need so much work. I felt I could not afford the time to do the research and design to make them awesome. I had to make a living.

But I love to research and write and there are many subjects I want to find out more about. How can I make a living and spend time doing the things I want to do at the same time?

This summer I have paired down my expenses (canceled cable and other revolutionary anti-spending measures) so that I could invest some time into learning how to make money on-line and write a book.

My book, Stress and the Single Mom will hopefully make me some money and I want my web-sites to make me money too. (Since first writing this article, I have temporarily abandoned the idea of writing Stress and the Single Mom but still operate the web-site.)

Until now my focus has been on selling my services or products. That has not been too successful because my heart is not in it. I like to do a little design and I like to make lampshades but don’t want to do it exclusively.

So how can I make money with my web-sites without havng to produce lampshades and tee-shirts? I think I am finally getting it.

When I was at the Million Dollar Author Program in Atlanta, one of the speakers was a guy named Jim Edwards. This guy went from living in a trailer to making big bucks in various ways on the internet with his writing.

I was intrigued by Jim as he sounded a little like me. And I have already learned a whole lot from him. (Boy have I been doing it wrong!) Anyway, I wanted to know more and my research led me to the “Affiliate Business Blueprint” which is an e-book/audio download done by Jim and a very successful internet affiliate marketer named Rosalind Gardener. I knew Jim to be reputable so I purchased this product. I really think that it could be another one of those actions that ends up changing my life forever. I am going to be implementing their advice starting with my new web-site

One warning: if you are a total internet novice or are totally clueless about using a computer, then you need to get some basic knowledge first. Take a general computer course or seminar at your local community college. You don’t need to know about web design or anything like that. You just need to feel comfortable searching the web and using a computer’s word processing system.

Adsense

Notice all the google ads on my web-site? Those are adsense ads. I currently make about $50 a month with adsense ads. That might not sound like a lot but for the amount of time I put in, it is not bad. Plus it pays my fees and my revenue grows as I add more pages. The plus side about adsence is that it is so easy. You do not have to decide which ads to put where. It decides based on the content on the page. That allows you to concentrate on having great content instead of spending hours searching for the right affiliate program. But... Don’t quit your day job.

I do know people who make $1000 a month plus from google but it takes time and patience. II recently bought an e-book on Adsense and am giving it a try. I will give an in depth review later but so far, I am impressed.

Lately I have been selling e-books on various topics that I talk about in my web-sites. I usually find these e-books on www.Clickbank.com and recommend them to my customers.

E-books are great and there are lots of reasons to resell them to make money!

They usually have up to date info
They cover any kind of topic
