Success Principles in Action!
Hey all you success gurus out there! Here is a chance to put you principles to the test. I have been trying to do that and I have made progress in my life but it has been slow.
I recently got an e-mail from a guy in Ohio. I will call him Roger Pope. He is at the end of his rope. He has lost his job, has 3 kids and a wife and is trying to get his life together. He has big dreams and religiously reads self-help books but he is not getting anywhere. He has given me permission to post his e-mails.
Let the On-line intervention begin!
Read about Roger and send him advice. Let’s use these success principles to help someone!
Roger needs advice on two fronts. He has a short term financial problem that needs immediate attention. (We need ideas on good ways to raise money fast.) And he has long term goals that need to be refined and worked upon. He needs to get a positive attitude and take some action.
I am going to post his e-mails here.
Success Advice Needed
I am calling on all Success Gurus and business people to please send their advice for Roger to popeproject@www.jeannerussell.com.
I am also starting a forum on How to Help Roger get From Where he is to where he wants to be. I Call it the Pope Project Advice Forum.
Friday, I spoke to Mr. Haynes about Roger. He had some ideas based on the success habits that he lives by. I will be shareing his views and my own in the weeks to come.
I plan to run an on-line intervention From Nov 10- Nove 17th. At the end I will comment on the help or lack of help we get. So check back regularly.

Jeanne, I stumbled on your website from a forwarded e-mail, and thought I would write. It sounds like Roger has a great opportunity here. First he enjoys writing, and second, he has four children. I would suggest since he has the opportunity to spend time with his children, to tell them stories, or use them as inspiration to write some short childrens stories. They do not take years to write, and if he knows anyone with some creative drawing skills, he could have a draft written up rather shortly. Have him use his life experiences to come up with a creative idea for a book, say a group of karate kids who solve mysteries in a small town? Creativity is all in the mind of the writer, and instead of feeling sorry for himself he should use his free time to create. Just a thought, Sandy
Roger Looks for Hope (11/15/05)
I appreciate the idea about writing, I do have some other ideas as well and that was a great one. Realistically, it will take some time to see income from writing. For now I have spent a great deal of time reviewing the job ads both online and off. I had one interview which did not pan out and I have two more scheduled this week.
Some people may look at my situation with a bit of envy that I get to stay home all day with my kids; and I do appreciate that opportunity as well. It is tempered though with bill collectors ringing the phone all day. As you said I need immediate cash flow and I am putting out resumes daily, I feel confident that I will find something. My wife is hanging in there but I would not describe her as supportive and understanding. Impatient and irritated come to mind though.
Regarding writing and other greater success goals- I have a very sporadic history so far. (unfinished projects)
It has been difficult to impossible to get to my writing. Kids are distracting, and need a lot of care and attention. My youngest is 7 mo old and sleeping over my shoulder as I type this with one hand. You get the picture and as I said even when she is home my wife is not supportive, in fact, quite negative about my big plans. Many times she laughs at my folly and states that she absolutely does not believe that I will meet with any business/financial success. Success can be difficult enough to realize, but when you have someone knocking you down from your attempt to climb higher than most people dare to dream.
But I have not given up on myself. I still believe that I can make it. I guess what I need for motivation is to realize that success is possible, that the experts were right in their recommendations and advice, that I am not foolishly following a dead end plan. I do not want to work for the rest of my life for 8 to 10 per hour. I am daring to dream very very big, even though at this writing I would be lucky to find $2 to my name.
I just need realistic encouragement that I am right and the mentors I follow are right also. Just looking for a ray of hope
Roger
